Goodbye WordPress, Hello CraigPress python

Lasted updated by @craigaddyman on 20 August 2015

So as the title suggests and as you may or may not have noticed I have a new design and a whole new backend. After getting more and more fed up with having a Wordpress powered site, I thought it was time to update things and use my own system - which a dev at work has dubbed 'CraigPress'.

There are a few reasons I have done this...
  1. I'm interested in Python development so having a PHP powered site seemed crazy.
  2. I wanted a project to work on.
  3. It's just awesome!! :)
As above, I now have ultimate flexibility, before I had to heavily rely on wp plugins to do reasonably simple tasks, now that's not the case, in fact I have just this morning built a page off my dashboard to pull in posts from other blogs I'm interested in (an RSS feed essentially).

A little info about the new site

The front end design is powered by twitter-bootstrap (and a little help from a colleague) and the syntax highlighting is powered by highlight.js. The backend logic is powered by the Flask framework and Python and hooks up to a mysql database.

Anyway I hope you like it, you should also notice just how fast it is now (although there are some things I plan to investigate to make it faster!)

Let me know if you find an issue!! Oh and check out my 404 page :)
